Power and Communications

The World's Best Office is Electric

Our Power and Communications team keep our communities switched on and connected.

This team builds and maintains the infrastructure that supplies power to homes and businesses throughout the South Island. If you’re a cable jointer, line mechanic, or electrician, you’ll work on building and maintaining power plants and distribution grids, power transmission, and fibre optics.

Environmental

The World's Best Office is Green

We know how lucky we are to live where we do, and our environmental team work hard to create beautiful, usable green spaces for everyone.

Groundskeepers and landscape gardeners look after parks and sports fields, keeping turf ready for play and creating spectacular gardens for our communities to enjoy. Our arborists, weed control operators and supervisors provide vegetation control and tree services, including pruning, felling, and clearing around power lines.

Metering and Field Operations

The World's Best Office is Smart

In our Metering and Field Operations team, our skilled and qualified electrical inspectors, registered electricians and metering technicians are on hand to design, install, maintain, and test metering equipment.

They’re the team for anything meter-related – they inspect and certify new and refurbished meter installations for industrial, commercial and residential customers, they test, calibrate and repair domestic meters, and they provide reconnection and disconnection services.

APPRENTICESHIPS

Not everyone is cut out for office work. If you like the idea of “being on the tools” then a trade’s life might be the one for you.

Delta is a great place to be an apprentice. We are big enough to offer excellent training opportunities with support from expert tradespeople; and small enough that your work is always varying. At Delta apprentices do the work, they don’t just get stuck with the cleaning-up at the end.
