Standard Connections

Standard connection supply point

Once we have identified your connection as being a 'Standard Connection supply point', you will be sent an Estimation of how much this could cost you.

Your project will require an ERCA (Electrical Reticulation Contract Agreement), CFR (Capital Funding Request), Detailed Design and Easement Agreement (if applicable) as required by the Network Owner Aurora Energy. These projects and approvals from Aurora Energy generally have longer timeframes as they are more complex. A Standard Connection project can usually be completed within 8-12 weeks.

Please note: if Easements are required, this can increase the project timeline by 2-4 weeks.

The process, costs* and timeframes may vary depending on a number of factors, including:

  • Whether an existing network connection supply point is available
  • The type of network connection supply point required, which depends on the available capacity
  • The number of connections you require and whether these are temporary or permanent
  • The available capacity as well as fuse and phase requirements (your electrician will provide these details)
  • The size of the current job queue for new connections
  • The conditions of the work site and the complexity of the job
  • When associated sub-contractor services are available (as these are provided by third parties) and the availability of equipment and materials required
  • Other technical, legal, regulatory and administrative factors (including resource constraints)
  • Easement agreement and sign off by external parties

*There could be costs associated with the design process, even if you choose to proceed with an alternate contractor.

Important Information

Why do I need to contact Delta early in the Design process?

Every project needs a site-specific design for its electricity supply. If you contact us early in your project, we can assist you with more accurate design and pricing of your electricity network connection.

Am I required to pay a contribution towards on the Aurora Network?

Customer initiated work on the Aurora Network could require funding from both the customer and the network owner (Aurora Energy Ltd). The value of your contribution will vary depending on the connection type required. The contribution requirements are set out in Aurora’s Capital Contributions policy which can be found here.

Who owns the equipment?

Aurora usually owns the network equipment up to the point of supply. Equipment beyond the point of supply is usually installed, owned and maintained by the customer.

Why does Aurora need an easement?

Electricity easements are important because they benefit both Aurora and landowners by:

  • Protecting a landowner’s safety by formally recording the location of the electricity reticulation equipment on their property title.
  • Provides Aurora with legal rights to access your property so that they can operate, maintain or replace their equipment.
  • Easements are required over installed Aurora owned electricity equipment to allow those assets to remain on private property and to provide Aurora Energy with ongoing access rights.
What happens if my quote expires?

If a quote is not accepted within 30 working days, we will close your application.  If you would like to proceed with the work after the quote has expired, please apply for a new connection and we will issue another quote. This is because material prices or site conditions may have changed since the original quote was issued.

What happens if the design changes?

If your job requirements change, we will supply a new design and corresponding quote.

What if requirements change when the construction has already begun?

If that happens, we will evaluate the impact on costs and timeframes and confirm whether there are any price adjustments. In the event there are price adjustments, we will provide you with an updated quotation in form of a variation to contract.  If there are additional costs as a result of a change in requirements, you will be invoiced for the amount quoted in your variation.

When do I have to apply for the livening of a connection?

When your connection supply point is available, you can apply to liven the connection at any time.  You can do this here.
