Infrastructure specialist Delta has secured a parks maintenance contract with Christchurch City Council totalling $22 million over nine years, looking after parks and open spaces in the south of the city.

The contract starts 1 July 2015 for up to nine years and covers the Riccarton-Wigram and Spreydon-Heathcote communities and includes 36 hectares of gardens and 295 hectares of parks and reserves turf.

Delta chief executive Grady Cameron said “We are very pleased to have been awarded this contract through a competitive tender process. We look forward to delivering the full range of park services for Christchurch City Council and local residents including grass and hedge cutting, maintenance of urban parks, sports turf, public gardens and playgrounds.

“We have a transition plan in place for the 1 July start and will be actively working to ensure a seamless transition and to provide opportunities for existing employees carrying out these services.

“Delta has built a solid reputation delivering parks maintenance services throughout the South Island, including for the Waimakariri, Hurunui and Kaikoura District Councils,” says Mr Cameron.
